I believe public education is a partnership. Between home and school. Between parents and teachers. Neither one can do this alone, and for too long both have been told to take what they're given and be grateful for it.
I've spent years on every side of that partnership — in PTA and boosters, on district committees, and for the past four years as Chairperson of the District's Community Advisory Committee. I've sat with parents who wanted nothing more than to help their child and couldn't get a straight answer from anyone. I've watched teachers carry far more than anybody outside a classroom understands, and then be asked to carry a little more.
Here's what I've learned from all of it: parents and teachers both depend on something neither of them controls. A board that listens to them. A board that champions them.
That's why I'm running. Not because I have every answer, but because I know what it looks like when the people closest to our children are the last ones anybody asks. When parents and teachers are genuinely heard, students succeed.
That's the whole job. And it starts at the board table.
I believe a student's opportunities shouldn't depend on which campus they happen to be zoned for. Every single child in our community deserves access to quality programs, up-to-date technology, supportive counselors, and experienced teachers. These vital resources need to reach every school in our district, not just the campuses with the loudest parent networks. That is why I am committed to bringing equity to every school. When it comes to our budget, I promise to look closely at where our money is going. On every single budget vote, I will ask the tough question: which schools does this funding actually reach? Let's make sure we are supporting all of our students, no matter their zip code.
I believe that every student in our schools deserves to graduate fully prepared for college, a career, or whatever path they choose to pursue. To achieve this, I am committed to focusing on what truly works for our kids. That starts with measuring honestly where our students are right now, so we can meet their needs directly. It means directing our funding toward proven programs that deliver real results. And most importantly, it means refusing to accept that some of our campuses simply perform worse than others year after year. We must do better. Together, we can raise achievement, close these gaps, and make sure every single school in our community is a place where our students can thrive.
When we talk about special education, English learner support, counseling, and intervention, we must remember that these are services, not separate places. Every student receiving them is a general education student first. Right now, families shouldn't have to find an advocate just to get the support that the law already guarantees to their children. I know exactly where this system breaks, because I have spent years working inside it. I am ready to use that experience to make sure our system works the way it is supposed to. Together, we can ensure we deliver services that truly reach the students who need them.
As I speak with families across our community, one thing is absolutely clear: our students cannot learn if they do not feel safe at school. That is why I am fully committed to building safe, supportive campuses for all of our children. To me, this means taking bullying and violence seriously, with real action and accountability. It means investing in the vital mental health support and counselors our kids need to thrive. And just as importantly, it means ensuring that every single family knows exactly how to raise a concern, and that they actually get a real, timely answer. Together, we can make sure our schools are places where every student feels secure, valued, and ready to succeed.
Our teachers and classified staff are the absolute backbone of our school district, and they deserve a board that stands behind them. When I look at our schools, I see dedicated professionals who deserve competitive pay, real professional support, and manageable workloads. Too often, our educators and staff are treated like line items on a budget instead of the vital community members they are. I am running to change that. If you elect me, I will fight to ensure we treat our teachers and staff as true partners. Together, we can build a supportive environment where those who care for our children are valued, heard, and equipped to succeed.
As your candidate, my priority is bringing true transparency and fiscal accountability to our District. Our families deserve to see exactly how their money is being spent, and why. That is why I will push to have our budgets explained in plain, everyday language that everyone can understand. I will work to ensure our decisions are made openly in public, rather than being pre-negotiated behind closed doors. Most importantly, I believe in a board that actually answers your questions directly instead of deflecting them. You deserve a clear voice, honest answers, and a leadership that is fully accountable to the community. That is the standard I will fight for every single day.
